- Place ice in a bag and cover it with a handkerchief or cloth for ten minutes on each eye. Do not leave the ice on continuously, as it may cause burns.
- On the day of surgery, try to go to bed as late as possible and sleep in a semi-upright position for two days.
- Wear dark glasses during the day and a hat or cap to avoid direct sunlight.
- Use sunscreen on areas with bruises to prevent skin pigmentation.
- Avoid going out on sunny days between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Do not exercise for one month after surgery. Starting from the second month, you can resume all types of physical activity.
- Use the eye drops prescribed by Dr. Alvarado 4 to 6 times a day to maintain eye lubrication.
- For 15 days after surgery, DO NOT take medications containing aspirin, such as Alka-Seltzer, Aspirineta, Sevedol, etc. Avoid taking natural supplements such as Omega 3, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginger, Chia Seeds, Garlic capsules, etc.
- Attend the suture removal appointment on the date specified by Dr. Giovanny Alvarado. Delays in suture removal can cause pustules to appear at the suture entry points on the eyelids.
- Wash your hands thoroughly before applying eye drops and avoid frequently touching your eyes.
WARNING SIGNS
- Severe pain in one or both eyes.
- Significant swelling of the eyelid with bruising.
- Partial or complete loss of vision.
- Burning or stabbing pain in the cornea of one or both eyes.
- Constant tearing with or without burning.
- Tears with a purulent appearance or abundant discharge in the mornings.
- Redness of the eyes.
- Blurred vision that does not clear throughout the day.
