- For the first two days, you must sleep in a semi-sitting position with two pillows behind your back. After two days, you can sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees to avoid lying face down.
- You cannot sleep face down until six months after the surgery.
- Avoid lowering your head, lifting heavy objects, or performing activities that require strength during the first 15 days after surgery.
- You can begin light aerobic exercises one month after the surgery and more intense exercise after two months.
- Avoid swimming and contact sports such as soccer, basketball, or volleyball for three months.
- Avoid being near areas with high heat, such as near a stove. You should not cook food for eight days after surgery.
- Wear a hat or cap constantly when going outside during the day.
- It is recommended to avoid going out on sunny days between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
- Apply sunscreen to areas with bruising on the face to prevent skin pigmentation. This pigmentation may last for several months.
- Do not attempt to clean your nose on your own as it may cause bleeding or infection.
- If the splint covering your nose falls off, you must call Dr. Giovanny Alvarado to have the splint repositioned.
Warning Signs
- Heavy bleeding from the nose.
- Severe nausea or vomiting.
- Purple or black discoloration of the tip of the nose.
- Pain in the nose accompanied by redness.
